When starting a game of Omaha, players post a big blind and a small blind and after the blind bets are posted,comes one of the main difference between Omaha and Texas Hold’em, where the dealer gives four cards face down in Omaha compared to the two hole cards in Texas Hold’em.

Next comes a round of betting which is started by the player to the left of the two players who posted the blinds and they can either call, raise or fold.

The dealer then discards the top of the deck called burning the card (just like in Texas Hold’em) and deals three cards face up on the table, called the flop. The next round of betting occurs with the players either calling, raising or folding.

After burning another card, the dealer flips another card face up which becomes the fourth community card called the Turn or Fourth street and another round of betting is done.

Finally, the dealer burns one last card and places the final and fifth card still face up, this one called the River or Fifth Street. Now, here’s another main difference between the two poker variants, in Omaha you can form the best and winning hand by exactly combining two of your hole cards, not one or three but two, with three of the community cards unlike that of Texas Hold’em where you can use none to two of your hole cards and combine with the community cards to form the best possible winning poker hand.

The last round of betting ensues and the remaining players after betting goes on a showdown where in they show their winning hands with the player on the dealer’s left going first and the player with the best combination of five cards wins.
