In a game where ante is used, each player puts a certain predetermined amount to the pot before each hand and it is usually just a small amount but it doesn't count as a bet but rather as a way of getting the pot started.

Blind is another way to get the game rolling by making the players place a forced bet before the hand is dealt that's why it's called a blind because you haven't seen your card. A way to do this is to have two players to the dealer's left pay the blinds, with the player to the immediate left placing a small bet called the little blind while the player to the second left places the big blind. You must remember that blinds count as bet compared to antes, so in the first round of betting no one can check and everyone has to bet.

So if you're in a game of antes, you are the first to act and you can either check which means passing on a bet or you can bet. When you bet the player to your immediate left can call which means he matches your bet or raise the bet or he can give up his hand and just fold.

This will continue to the other players going around to the left and if the bet was raised when it reaches you, you also have the option of calling, raising or folding. The betting is considered over when all of the players calls the last bet and they have the same amount of money in the pot for all those who haven't folded.
